Šiaip logiška sujungti visus pirkimus į vieną (pagal USMC pranešimus jie planavo įsigyti atskirai) ir vedančiu pirkėju plaikti US Army, jau plačiai naudojančią CG

    • JAV planai keisti kariuomenės organizacinę struktūrą:

Changes afoot for US Army’s organisational structure, forward basing
      http://www.janes.com, 2019.03.06

US Army leaders are drawing up plans to overhaul the service’s organisational structure and questioning if more forces need to be forward based to rapidly respond to a potential violent conflict with Russia or China.

During a 4 March Center for a New American Security event, Lieutenant General Eric Wesley, the commander of the army’s Futures Command, broadly discussed modernisation plans and force structure challenges associated with pivoting away from counter-insurgency operations to ones against peer competitors.

“In large-scale ground combat operations, particularly one in the future operating environment, it’s going to require echelons above brigade, all of which will solve unique and distinct problems that a given BCT [brigade combat team] can’t solve by itself,” Lt Gen Wesley said. “So, you’ll see us seek to build out echelons above brigade, the division, the corps, even potentially a field army in given theatre, that can manage these theatre problems that otherwise wouldn’t be achieved.”

      • Iš įdomybių - kodėl vėliavos ant JAV karių uniformų siuvamos atvirkščiai?

Kodėl vėliavos ant JAV karių uniformų siuvamos atvirkščiai? Žvaigždutės visada atsukamos į dešinę
        http://www.technologijos.lt, 2019.03.22

US Army poised to begin JAGM full-rate production
          http://www.janes.com, 2019.04.09

The US Army is to begin full-rate production (FRP) of the Lockheed Martin Joint Air-to-Ground Missile (JAGM), with a pre-solicitation issued by the service on 9 April.

The notification issued by the US Army Contracting Command-Redstone (ACC-RSA) covers the acquisition of a maximum quantity of 3,000 (1,500 in fiscal year 2020 [FY 2020] and 1,500 in FY 2021) JAGM missiles in containers in support of the US Army, US Navy (USN), US Air Force, and "special customers", as well as trainer systems and support.

This will result in the award of two 12-month option periods of performance by Lockheed Martin Missiles and Fire Control to support the JAGM requirement. The ACC-RSA did not disclose when an FRP contract might be awarded, or what its value might be. Jane's has previously reported that an award is expected in 2019.

The JAGM is a tri-mode seeker (semi-active laser [SAL], imaging infrared [IIR/2IR]), and millimetre wave [MMW]) air-to-surface missile that is intended to replace the Lockheed Martin AGM-114 Hellfire, Raytheon AGM-65 Maverick, and Hughes BGM-71 TOW systems in the US inventory.

Seen during earlier trials, the Lockheed Martin JAGM will replace the Hellfire, Maverick, and TOW systems in the US arsenal. Source: Lockheed Martin

              • "Boeing" gaus 14,3 mlrd. USD bombonešių B-52H ir B-1B modernizacijai ir palaikymui:

Boeing awarded USD14.3 billion for bomber support
                http://www.janes.com, 2019.04.15

Boeing has been awarded USD14.3 billion to support and upgrade the B-52 Stratofortress and B-1B Lancer bombers over the next decade.

Announced on 12 April, the indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity (ID/IQ) contract "provides for the upcoming modernisation and sustainment efforts to increase lethality", the Department of Defense (DoD) said.

Work will be performed in Oklahoma and is expected to be complete by 11 April 2029.

The US Air Force (USAF) fields 76 Boeing B-52H Stratofortress and 62 Rockwell B-1B Lancer bombers (Boeing acquired Rockwell International in 1996, becoming the original equipment manufacturer for the platform). All of these aircraft fall under the auspices of the Air Force Global Strike Command (AFGSC).

The B-52 has been in service since 1952 and is scheduled to remain operational into the 2040s. Upgrades planned to take it out to this date include the Radar Modernization Program (RMP) to replace the aircraft's obsolete Northrop Grumman AN/APQ-166 mechanically scanned radar; B-52 Software Block (BSB) upgrades that take place every 18-24 months to enable the integration of new weapon and sensor capabilities; a communications upgrade known as the Combat Network Communications Technology (CONECT) system, which enables the aircraft to communicate with the air force's digital communications network; the Advanced Targeting Pod (ATP) Program; and potentially a re-engining programme that will fit more efficient engines while retaining the aircraft's iconic eight-powerplant configuration.

The B-1B entered USAF service in 1985, with recent enhancements being conducted under the Integrated Battle Station (IBS) effort. These have included the Radar Modernization Improvement Program; the Vertical Situation Display Unit (VSDU) in the forward cockpit; and the Fully Integrated Data Link (FIDL) and the Central Integrated Test System (CITS) in the aft cockpit. Work is being carried out concurrently and is to be completed later this year. The Lightning ATP is also being integrated.

The B-52H has been in service for 67 years and is slated to remain so for a further 21 at least. Source: US Air Force

                • JAV kariuomenė planuoja perginkluot 8 brigadas "Strykeriais" su 30 mm pabūklais:

US Army moving out on plans to field eight brigades’ worth of upgunned Strykers
                  http://www.janes.com, 2019.04.23

The US Army is moving out with a new requirement to add a 30 mm cannon to its double V hulled, Stryker Infantry Carrier Vehicles (ICVs), and seeking industry's help to field eight brigades with the upgunned capability.

In a recent notice posted on the Federal Business Opportunities website, the service laid out its two-phased approach for integrating the new weapon on its Stryker vehicles, an overlapping approach that involves a design integration study with a production competition.

For the first phase, the army is currently seeking contractors interested in participating in a design integration study, and will select up to eight bids that will integrate a government-provided weapon station - which includes a fire-control system, ammunition-handling system, optics system, and gun - onto the vehicle.

"The contractors shall integrate their weapon station design, which includes the XM813 [30 mm] gun, onto the [Stryker ICV]," the service said, before noting that it would then inspect the integration work before it is transported for a "period of performance" that will run from this June until the end of September 2020.

Then in fiscal year 2020, the service will kick-start phase two by issuing a competitive production solicitation and it said it "expects" contractors participating in the study to submit their bids.

"The government anticipates that the potential production prime contractors will demonstrate capabilities and maturity levels required for production and support," the service wrote.

Army leaders will award a single contractor with a five-year, full-rate production contract that will include the option for follow-on years. Over seven years, though, the contract value is set at USD907.4 million for 294 upgunned Strykers to outfit eight brigades.
